    Funny question at the range...

I was at the indoor range today shooting my S&W M66 and my Kimber 1911. This group of guys was in the stall next to me and one of the guys kept leaning on the divider and resting his arm on it while watching his friend shoot. So he's basicaly maybe a foot away from my left shoulder and I was kinda getting annoyed. I kept looking over at him trying to give him a hint that he should stay back.
The guy would just look at me cluelesly. Then while I'm shooting the Kimber he says "nice gun, is it a desert eagle?" WTF! I don't know it struck me as funny.

where were his feet...his side or yours?

At the range last week I had 2 people tell me my ca-legal OLL was illegal. One was a 8-9 yr old kid that ran up to us with his mouth dropped open asking if "That's an AR, is it really an AR? That's illegal"

When I told him it wasn't an AR, he seemed disappointed.

I thought it was funny because his dad was probably the one who put him up to it.

If he was crowding you, kindly asking him to give you some room - with a smile - works WAY better than telepathy.

Folks don't mind a kind word, those that do in such circumstances would be well advised to notice the loaded roscoe in your mitts, not a good time to display a 'tude.

I have had people ask me stupid things while I was working at a gun store with a range. When you walk into this gun shop, the range is right in front of your face. I have had on a few instances people would come in and ask me if we had a range to shoot at! Not only were they blind, they must have been deaf too because there was shooting going on.

You might not be surprised then when working at a gas station I had a guy come in asking "Do you sell gas?"

I looked at him for a quick second...then to the gas pumps outside and replied "No. See those gas pumps out there. . . a front for the heroin business."

It was funny at the time until he brought the cops telling them I tried selling him drugs. When I explained to the cops what had happened they had a good laugh too.
Nothing to see here. . . Move along.

When stuff like this happens I generally step out till they finish shooting..I don't know if It's just me but I don't like shooting around people I don't know. I have had many trips to the local range when some punks walk in and start sweeping people in the range with their rented weapons.....I like to go during the day when it is empty take an hour or two lunch break and go pop some caps.
