    Making a Stainless Barrel Black

I am working on a 1022 project and would like to use a Kidd barrel. THey do not sell their black stainless bull barrels in 16.5" though. Id like to pick up a 16.5" in stainless and have it coated or plated black. They use ion plating but that seems difficult to find.

What are my options for making a stainless barrel black? Does anyone know of a shop that can ion plate?

I sent one of my stainless 1911 barrels to Robar for their black phosphate coating. They said it would wear just like a blued barrel.

Rattle can. Use High Heat or engine enamel if you think you need it.

I actually want to do that to my 1911 barrel, do you have a zoomed out picture of it?

Been gone too long. It's been 15 to 20 years since i had to shelf my guns. Those early years sucked.

I used Aluma-hyde on my Mini-30 barrel. It has lasted 5 years of heavy use and abuse and it still holding up.
