What does Flitz do?

Does it remove metal on the microscopic level making it polished, or does it fill in the tiny gaps on the microscopic level giving it the "illusion" of making it shiny?

I would like to know before I use it to polish my mosin nagant bolt.

Any abrasive removes material. Flitz is a very fine abrasive. Dont need to worry about cleaning up a bolt with it. It wont change the dimensions of the bolt to any measurable degree.

I used Flitz to polish the rust off my milsurp bolt.

Spent about 5 mins every day for almost two weeks. Was really pleasantly surprised on how it turned out.

You can use 1500 grit sand paper to start and finish with flitz. The 1500 with buff down rough areas but will not remove anything significant on an already smooth surface.

And don't forget the Mothers Mag and Aluminum polish. The best final finish polish i have ever used.

I have on many occasions used red jewelers polish to make things shiny and smooth.

Nothing.


But if you put it on a cloth/dremel bit and use it to polish stuff...it makes it shiny!
