    Tactical training cooperative

I have a small, close group of gun owning friends. Most of whom are new gun owners. We have access to more experienced friends though. Our problem is, We're pretty inexperienced, we want to take professional tactical/shooting courses, but have limited funds.

I've been kicking around a possible solution, and discussed it with one of these friends the other night. He seems open to the idea, so I'm just looking for ways to make things work. Bear in mind, it's not even out of the talk stage.

Our solution is to chip in to send a couple guys to take the course/s and they come back and teach the rest of us.
We may have to get a couple guys to be certified nra instructors, one as rifle one as pistol. So we can get a better return for our money.

Another thing is since we're spread across our city, we'll want to get local neighborhood watch programs going (separate from our little cooperative)

Any tips, things to watch out for? Foreseeable snags?

Google "Appleseed Project". They provide basic rifle training for a good price.

I'm aware of Appleseed, I missed them last time they were out, hopefully I'll be able to take advantage of them next time.

We're also looking for handgun/ shotgun training. I know there's a few schools around here.

AFAIK, Applseed is marksmanship training, not tactical training.

I've considered the same system as the OP. I think it could work.

Considering I've not even had a hunter safety course, I'll take what I can get.
And Appleseed is on the list of things to take advantage of.

Our Initial interest will be geared toward home defense.
Off the top of my head, Basic/advanced pistol courses. Followed by a shotgun course. If one of us is taking a mixed martial arts class, he'll need practice mates. There's the opportunity for us to learn a thing or two there.

Other courses as we can afford it. We have some experienced friends we can tap too
