any ruger LCR 9mm owners here?

I am interested in buying a revolver in the near future, thought about getting it in 9mm because of recoil, cost of ammo, availabilty and cross compatible with my other pistols.

I would like eventualy use it for my CCW. (This will be my first revolver, what am i supposed to look for?)

Can i get some Calgunners opinions/reviews please and thank you.

It's heavier than the 38 sp version. The 9mm and 357 mag use the same heavier steel frame, you might as well get it in 357 mag. 357 mag is much more versatile than 9mm but if you're only buying 9mm then I see the appeal.

Personally, I 'd stick with 38 sp version because it's the lightest weight and will carry the best. My favorite carry gun is the MP340 because it's so darn light!

The 9mm ammo compatibility is nice but realistically how many rounds are you going to shoot thru it a year, is buying a couple boxes of 38 sp that inconvenient? The next time there's an ammo shortage some variation in cartridges might be beneficial.

A while back I consolidated down to only 22 and and 9mm, now I've added back 357 mag and 45 acp. I think my favorite handgun is my 340, I load it with 38's and it weighs under 16oz...for carrying it's the best I've found.

I've got one, and I was actually surprised by the recoil on it... It seems to be more than a steel .38 special that I had, which isn't really too surprising when you factor in the weight of the polymer revolver. Sights are typical for a snubbie, meaning they're barely marginal, but better than nothing. The moon clips work well, but I wished they'd made them in stainless, as a black moon clip can disappear pretty easily on a dark background.

Would I buy it again? Hard to say. Like you said, it's easy to cross-use ammo, etc., but faced with a choice I'd probably go with a semi-auto if needed vs. the LCR9.

I was also surprised by the recoil, but if asked would I buy it again, the answer is yes. Can't go wrong if you already shoot 9mm.

However I must warn you it will only lead to you wanting other revolvers.

Is my glock 26 a better package, sure! However, you can't argue the reliability of a revolver and I was in same boat as you when the lcr 9mm made its way onto our sacred roster.

Buy it and never look back

              I have the LCR 9mm

recoil for me seems lighter than any of my 38's

never any issues with ammo hanging up or anything.. lots of rounds with zero issues.. very nice little gun to shoot, and I take it to the range and its pretty accurate for a little snubbie..

and the trigger on mine is sweet, light and easy right out of the box..

I would recommend one to anyone looking for a pocket gun. I am selling off my 38's and 357's ..

I assume that it uses moon clips though, right?

I want one but won't buy one until I figure out why they are $100+ more than a 38spl version for no apparent reason.

The frame is beefier than the 38, looks to be built on the 357 frame. If you compare it to the 357 you'll see pricing is similar.

I just ordered one from Grabagun today for $430

Sure! Come out next month to the Calguns shoot at On Target in Laguna Niguel. It's the 2nd Friday of the month, and it only costs $5.00 to shoot and mingle for a few hours. I had it last week at the shoot, and wouldn't have a problem bringing it out again.

I love my 9mm LCR. My wife has the .38 LCR. You can find some range reports in the handgun subforum.
