Should be five years until she gets allowed to purchase a firearm from last 5150... that's if she wasn't convicted by a court of law....

If there's a problem after five years contact the institution to get them to send some paperwork to you....

As long as you keep them locked up from the "ineligible" person you should be fine...

Seeing as she your wife i think you will be just fine...

If one has a 5150 wouldn't they be for sure aware of it? Aren't you involuntary held? Wouldn't any forms had to be filled out paperwork given to you? Well at least it will be done soon. I knew a gun enthusiast woman that had a 5150 she was counting the days for it to end.

That's the problem with the mandatory reporting now. If you get help for anything involving depression, ptsd or anxiety then you get flagged automatically. Often even if there is no evidence that the person is or will become violent It really singles out vets who return from deployments who might want to talk to someone about what they saw or did. Just because of this, it makes people much less inclined to seek professional help. Nobody wants to be ostracized.
Dear ISIS, Texas is not known for their gun free zones.

As a matter of fact this happens to peple all the time theyre not crazy just having some issues with depression you go thinking you getting help and they take your rights away unkowngly to many people because apparently people cant seek help in this country without being crazy so yes its possible to not be aware

well said, i get a little irritated that the moment the word "mental" comes into play, everyone suddenly feels that person is going to, at some point become VIOLENT, or unstable

and what you stated is EXACTLY what is happening to our vets...they reach out for some emotional support they may need and get labeled...these are the guys that fought for our freedoms, past and present, and this is how they get repaid for their service

there is a very broad brush being used to paint a very unfair picture on people who have mental issues...i've know a few for years, not one has ever displayed violent tendencies, even when they reach a fearful state or their anxieties kick in...a few i wouldn't trust with a drivers license, but, i'd trust them with a firearm...just saying
