I could use a little input here. I was talking with my Wife about how Obama MAY try to ban assault weapons. ...and long story short she tells me to let her know what rifle or pistol I would like for Christmas and she would get it. I think more to keep me from b*tching about another ban. Not saying there will be, but there could be.
So here is where I need input on what I should ask for. Given that I can ask for just about any weapon say $1800ish or less..... what should I get? I have been building two AR lowers. So I am covered there (for now). My Wife bought me a PTR-91 last year for Christmas. I have a Mini-14 (no laughing). Not sure I want an AK style. Just not crazy on the looks, but i know if works like a "tank" so to speak. I am thinking that I should stay in the "probably will be banned" category. So that means assault weapons types. Then again I do want a Springfield M1A. How about a FAL? Should that be on my list? AR-10 maybe... at least it would use the same ammo as the PTR-91. Another rifle I was thinking of was a Sig 556. I am just so overwhelmed with choices I was hoping for a little direction or help.... as I am still a little new to the whole gun collecting thing. It's sort of like... well you get ONE CHOICE.... so don't mess it up. I figure most people here are more knowledgeable than me regarding rifles. That's why I am asking for input.
I was also considering maybe a FN 5.7 pistol. Then again I do not own any 1911 style pistol. I currently own a Beretta 92Fs and 8045 cougar. I just think that assault weapons will be high on a "let's ban them" list than pistols for the time being.
