    Any lock for any 1911 should be fine.

    Manufacturers provide descriptions like "Pistols, Revolvers, Shotguns (non lever action) and Rifles (non lever action) with a trigger guard up to 2 1/2-inches long and up to 1 7/8-inches wide (external dimensions)." - your dealer will sell you one from his stock that is generic like that.

          This lock is California DOJ approved

          Go to Walmart and pick up a blue DAC lock. About $6 including tax. After the FFL takes a photocopy of the receipt, go back to Walmart and get a refund.

          This is what they look like;

            They are not accepted any longer for handguns because of the federal "2005 Handgun Safety Act".
            Requires all handgun purchases to have a lock. Makes no difference if you have a safe at home.

                ... at least until the bleedin' BATFE writes complete regs that implement a gun safe as an acceptable "secure gun storage or safety device", just like the law says. link

                  Agreed, but they're too busy right now trying to implement the new 4473...

                    oh no thats not why they changed the law...you have to transport safetly to your house don't you....if the safes at your house and not in your car...so the liberals argued.....and thus changes where made

                    buy a trigger lock for Auto Pistol...don't get a cable...well if you don't mind the finish getting a beating.

                      Go to Wal*Mart and get a pistol lock. They are all CA DOJ approved (at least that's what they told me). Either way, it will say it is approved if bought at Wal*Mart.

                        To adhere to federal law, A lock has to accompany the pistol out of the shop. It can be the one that the manufacturer includes or even one the dealer gives you.

                        A safe affidavite still works to satisfy California's requirements instead of having to BUY a lock.

                          and BOTH of those requirements are completely STUPID and UNNECESSARY, yet still enforced even if you don't have any kids.
