I'd easily jump on the Ruger and SEI bandwagon, but it's not hard for me since I don't care for their products much in the first place.

i am curious why several people have mentioned Troy Industries? Was there a big customer service incident or problem I was unaware of? Why do so many people have beef?

Pretty much. Troy, more or less, has no problem with murdering women and children over a sawed-off shotgun case.

I always liked Troy products. I will never buy another Troy product and I will gladly donate money to some business crushing lawsuit to put them out of business. I'd like to see Troy go Red Jacket.

^^^I did buy guns from both of these companies and regretted it. Both guns are long gone. Thankfully, Jennings went out of business years ago and most of their guns have been recycled into soda cans.

I actually laughed out loud about your reply because I thought it was a joke.

I should go back and re-edit by original post to include Mitchell's Mausers scams and obliteration of history. I'd feel more confident buying a Bubba'd sporter having retained more historical accuracy than anything from that debauchery of an organization. They should be brought up on RICO charges!

Robinson-Armanent's biggest self-hinderance is their R&D and Engineering teams have the attention span of a gnat watching MTV on amphetamines. They build great stuff, have great ideas, then drop the entire platform before it gets a following.

I still think the M96 is one of the best modern semi-auto rifle/carbine platforms introduced since the AR-180, and minus the temporary barrel-connectivity issue they had which were partly impatience and lack of methodical attention on the end-users part, everything about the gun imbues quality matierals, with old-world German-like detail, and an awesome build, with great ideas for versatility, chambering etc. - then they dropped it like a rock mid-stream to go off chasing a government contract to beat the M4 - that they didn't win, and should have known they wouldn't.

In this post 2004, OLL/OLR world, they are missing out on a huge segment that would love to see the M96 available again. There is nothing currently like it, and whatever comes close is just not as stout. Yet if they ever bring it back, if they ever release the belt-feed adaptor they promised for the M96, I'll be first in line with cash in hand.

Ever since I first saw one in the eighties, I thought it was the ugliest gun I'd ever seen. Slide looks like a skyscraper. Like, you couldn't possibly design it to have a higher bore axis. Weird stamped sheet metal trigger looks like it came off of a cap gun or an old Howdy Doody toy revolver.
It's all aesthetically out of whack for me.
Has nothing to do with their business practices or the time their ceo almost ran the company into the ground and they had all the qc issues.
I just think they're gawdawful fugly.
But then again, I think the absolutely spartan glock is beautiful, so I fully realize I could be crazy. To me, when you can't take anything else away from the design without affecting function, then you've reached perfection.

There is no substitute.

^^^I had to look up Jiminez. This was formerly Bryco, formerly Raven, formerly Jennings. The Jennings name was used longer than the others and even simultaneously with Jiminez. Apparently, Mr. Jiminez was the factory foreman for Bryco.

Jiminez now makes a modernized version of my old Jennings J-22. After owning the Jennings, I can tell you that Jiminez could not possibly do much worse.
