PLEASE HELP! DD-MK18 AR Pistol PPT Problem/Question

    Hey everyone!

So I have been so busy with work I have gotten VERY behind in the current CA gun laws and seem to have run into a bit of a problem.

A buddy of mine just sold me a brand new DDMK18 AR pistol that he bought in November of last year in CA (11/14). I understand the new SEE law stating that dealers cannot sell them anymore. However I did read that transferring was fine.

I just got denied for the transfer by two FFL dealers. I'm I missing something here? There is no way that he can be forced to keep that gun forever by not being able to transfer it... From what I understand PPT of SEE guns was fine just dealers cant SELL them.

I have already paid for the gun but I don't have possession yet obviously.... This is becoming a really annoying issue and is making me hate California even more...

Any info or tips you could give me to get this thing transferred would be GREAT.

(I have tried finding this info but everything I find says I should be able to do it....)

Is you're frined trying to ship it to the FFL? If not, go to a different FFL that's up to date on the laws. You should be able to PPT. Where are you are located? People will chime in and recommend FFL's if you provide you're location.

It's legal to sell. Find another FFL. So that you don't waste any more of your time, call them beforehand and tell them what you want to transfer.

A shop near me (Imbert and Smithers) also refuses to transfer off-roster guns.

You should be okay with your buddy selling you the pistol. Choose other FFLs around you. Are you in SoCal? I'm sure riflegear and ammo
Bros could take care of you.

You and your buddy have to be CA residents and do a PPT in person at a CA FFL. If you are trying to ship it in from outside CA that won't work anymore unless you are exempt from the roster.

Since you state your buddy was a CA resident and bought the pistol in 2014 there should not be an issue as long as it is in a legal configuration. Try posting in the FFL forum for a dealer near you that will do the PPT.
