    1 in 30 or 1 in 31?

Can I DROS a NEW hand gun purchase from FFL a few ours after the 30 days expires or do I have to wait until the following day?

For example, I DROS a NEW hand gun from an FFL on April 1st at 12:00 noon. Can I DROS my next hand gun (30) 24 hour periods later on May 1st, say at 5:00pm or do I have to wait until May 2nd?

720 hours plus 1 second, but there is also leeway for time change months. It's usually suggested to wait an hour or more to make sure there isn't any overlap.

An easier way is look at the previous months DROS paperwork for the handgun and look at when either the last day for pickup/DROS expiration date is. Anytime after that you can DROS another.

Also recall that this applies to handguns only, and does not apply to PPT - buying that handgun from another unlicensed CA resident, using an FFL because CA says so.

Frozen in 2015, it is falling out of date and I can no longer edit the content. But much of it is still good!

1 in 30 does not apply to PPT?

I started DROS on a PPT 3-22-2015........latest delivery date/time on DROS form is 4-21-2015.

I'm going to DROS another PPT tomorrow 4-26-15.

From what I've read above I'm GTG on 1 in 30, but 1 in 30 does not actually apply because both purchases are PPT?

PPT till you can't PPT any more.. There is no limit per day/hour.

I was always under the impression that the 30 days expired at the time of day when you drosed and after that time you were good to go ahead and purchase a new hand gun through ffl.

Yep, I've DROSd a couple new ones 30 days and 1 minute after the last one.

It does. When you start your paperwork there will be a time written down, 10 days from that time is your earliest pickup, 30 days from that time you are eligible for another NEW or used(if owned by the gun store) handgun. I got held up once buying a police trade-in G17 (obviously not new) that was traded in and hence owned by the shop. I had to re-DROS after my 30 was up. PPT's are exempt from this. I bought a new revolver and a used revolver last weekend and doing a PPT this morning lol!

If you tried to DROS your second gun on April 2nd, that would only be one day. May 1 at 12:01 pm.

There is one 'gotcha' - the City of Los Angeles has its own 1-in-30 rule for handguns, and it DOES cover PPT; if you live in LA city but do your buying outside the city limits, you can avoid that hiccup.

Nice catch. I corrected that, I meant May 2nd.

                            Thanks

I managed to dros another pistol on the 30th day +1 or 2 hours(happened during fall dst).

At the time I was worried about getting denied but didn't.
