Clark County Shooting Complex- Las Vegas

Had the chance to spend the day shooting on their rifle range last week. Met up with a friend who's a local and shot his "real" AR-15 (without a bullet button), along with my own, along with the Garand, M1A and MR762. The place was nice and clean, well run. Very nice staff and clean facilities.

Had the 200 yard range to ourselves for the better part of 4 hours.

Nice place over all. Wish some of the counties here would get a clue and set something like that up. Bet it'd be self funding.

I read somewhere that it was not meeting income projections. In Vegas, it's cheaper and less rigid to just go shooting in the desert.
Check back later for a witty comment.

I was there the weekend before last for my first visit. I was very impressed with the facilities and the RSO's. They were observant but not giving free lessons that you didn't ask for. My dad and I shared a bench for $20. It was nice to see people shooting real guns too.

For shotgunners, the place is practically paradise! Skeet towers as far as the eye can see, and two awesome sporting clays courses. Love that place!

I shot clays there in the middle of summer. If there was no one waiting they would let us pay for one round and just keep shooting until we ran out of shells.

I wouldn't pay unless I rented a full auto AR. The desert is vaste and free.

What are the rates now? When I moved back to San Diego from Vegas in 2005 and I think the fee was like $7 for the whole day lol

exactly. You'd burn more than that in gas driving out to a place you can legally shoot.

I was gonna go there the last time I went to vegas for my girlfriends Archery Competition but I ended up flying and didnt take any firearms with me.

On their website it looked really nice.

CCSC has a nice skeet range but their rifle range (last time i was up there) was full of idiots. I perosnally watched an RSO tell a man whos socom 16 jammed to take it home get the biggest hammer you can find and beat the charging handle back. the guy was getting ready to pack up until i walked up and said if you dont mind you can try something less destructive to your rifle. Hold it vertical grab the charnging handle and drop the rifle on its butt stock and it should eject.

RSO - youre and idiot thats only for m-4 not this rifle...
i just look at the guy and say try it. BAM shell ejects i hand him some lube and he lubes up the brand new gun and goes to town for a few hundred rounds.

about an hour later cease fire just ended im back behind the gun and heres that same RSO staring at me.... im giving him the stink eye and he goes WTF you looking at. i say range is hot and your past the red line....... he looks down then looks down the line at all the rifles and goes OH SH** and hops across...

too many times ive had crap like that or unsafe shooters NDs into the ceiling so i just use the desert. i have my own area i shoot at good from cQB to 1.5 miles and ive never seen anyone out there.

now skeet i hear its an amazing course.
