    Debating with an anti gunner

    Another interesting read
How to not win an arguement, but to effect change in the antis thinking process

Crushing anti-gunners with logic might feel good, but doesn't win hearts and minds. If gun owners want to win the debate, they have to change their tactics.
Rule 1- ALL GUNS ARE ALWAYS LOADED

Rule 2 -NEVER LET THE MUZZLE COVER ANYTHING YOU ARE NOT PREPARED TO DESTROY (including your hands and legs)

Rule 3 -KEEP YOUR FINGER OFF THE TRIGGER UNTIL YOUR SIGHTS ARE ON THE TARGET

Rule 4 -BE SURE OF YOUR TARGET AND WHAT IS BEYOND IT

I've tried this approach before, and it only works with someone intelligent and open-minded enough to understand your prospective. Sometimes anti-gunners are very ignorant in their ways and will not accept the fact that they might not be entirely correct. Worth a shot though...

My wife is very good at disarming anti-gun type people. She uses different points of view, as she was more of a liberal thinker before we dated. She uses personal experiences and heavily covers safety, many of the people she talks to eventually go shooting just to see what she's talking about. Most of them still hate me though.

Yeah, it's a good article. It's better to be reasonable and collected in these arguments than go straight to the "cold dead hands" approach.

The "cold dead hands" approach is nice rhetoric but it doesn't do much of anything to convert people to our side.

Don't waste your time... Go buy some more ammo instead of trying to reason with those idiots and when the time comes tell every single person you meet that cannot protect themselves and needs assistance to go pi$s up a rope.

I ask them if they can survive 10 minutes waiting for a cop to arrive.

Debate with anti is a waste of time. They are adamantly stupid and couldn't comprehend logic

Maybe lead in to that with: "Do you know the average response time for the Police/Sheriff where you live or work? Don't you think that is something you might want before you make a decision on who is ultimately responsible for your safety?"

BTW, great article OP. Thanks for sharing! I actually bookmarked it I liked it so much

Tagged. Great info. "Verbal Judo" is a skill I am always working to improve. It takes true intellect to effectively disarm people in this way.

Outstanding article. Thank you for sharing. I've been in similar situations with my wife's colleagues and family many times over the past twenty-five years. My most important ROE has been to never take or make it personal. Getting angry, frustrated, or hostile only plays into their hands.
