    Selling advice

I have a CZ P-06 (40 S&W) I'm thinking of selling. I have never done this before. Can anyone chime in on their experience doing it on consignment at a gun shop? I hear they take 20%, which is a lot.

Mine is also off-roster, so I need to do a PPT locally, which is why I'd still consider consignment (if they let you do that with off-roster stuff). Another option is gunbroker, which I like but it's unlikely I'd find someone to do the purchase locally. I can also post here.

Any advice or sharing of a good experience is appreciated.

    Thanks!

    1. take good pictures of all sides of gun
    2. post on calguns private sale handgun forum, read the rules sticky in that forum and follow them
    3. meet seller at agreed gun store so they can inspect and complete transfer
    4. if acceptable, take money and complete transfer paperwork
    5. profit

Like he said. You may want to post a listing on Armslist but sometimes those who respond are 'quirky'. Never had a problem with a seasoned Calgunner selling or trading (I'd also add I prefer the other party to have a few 'clean' iTrader transactions if possible).

Off roster handguns are worth more in California than outside the state, so you may as well post it in the Calguns Marketplace.

As said above it is probably best to first try a PPT sale through the FREE Calguns Marketplace first, as long as you are comfortable with meeting a stranger in a gun store parking lot. But you probably will end up with more cash in your pocket.

Understand that the value of the gun will probably take a hit due to its caliber. Would be more popular and valuable if it was 9mm. Although I have to say that its older brother (CZ 75B) is the most comfortable pistol I have ever shot in 40 S&W. Even pleasant, actually.

Thanks for the input. I decided my preferred pistol rounds are 9mm, 45acp, and 357 mag. That said, this is the best 40 I've ever shot and can't think of anything negative to say about it at all, other than the caliber isn't my fav. I know lots of people who like 40 so I hope it finds a good home. CZs are nice pistols.

If you do consignment make sure u pull it from your gun store within 30 days and put it back on consignment.. Reason is technically they are supposed to DROS it to you and make you pay $25 of they have possession for over 30 days..

I hear CZs do well so just take pictures and post it in the handgun marketplace

Heed this well. I got nailed by what I thought was a good shop.
I was not informed of this ( I know not an excuse) and even kept going in and asking if the price was too high. ( They put the value on it)
I was repeatedly told to ....give it time.
Soooooo I finally gave up and retrieved it after 4 months and got to pay 35 bucks and wait 10 days.
This was a year or so ago.
This year I heard of Calguns and just sold the Luger here.

This 30 day limit is news to me, but has renewed my contempt for this shop.

Researching this as of this thread, I can find no mention of being able to pick it back up within 30 days as if it were never consigned.

Can anyone cite me from the laws where this is a condition?

                    Thanks.

Some shops take 25% for consignment. Others don't do consignment but may offer to buy it out right . . . usually at well below market.

Catch, I'm in the Bay Area about 30 min south of SF. I don't know the calguns policy if we should just PM about it an not use the thread for this but I will try to post today or tomorrow and if you want to discuss further just PM me.

P-06 are pretty desirable here, you can probably get rid of it quick if you just post it in the marketplace.
