I remember being able to buy bricks of 22lr at the box stores anytime I needed it for between $10-$21.Comment

I bought 1000rnds of .223 off Craigslist many, many years ago. It was in an ammo can. The guy said he got it from a storage container he bought and didn't need it. I got it home and dumped it and at the bottom were 3 standard cap mags and 1 rare high cap 40 round metal "Sterling" brand mag that I saw - then - last sold on Gunbroker for about $200. I even posted up about it here back then so the story is around someplace.10 +1 in the chamberComment

Not been around as long as some of you but have receipts from Walmart when I could walk in and grab boxes on 45acp Blazer Brass for $9.97 a box, back in 2005.Comment

Back in the 70's. 1000 rds 223 was $79.95.
I have bricks of 22lr with the $13.95 price tag still on the box.Been gone too long. It's been 15 to 20 years since i had to shelf my guns. Those early years sucked.
I really miss the good old Pomona Gun Shows.

I have a couple of 20 round .223 boxes that were at the bottom of my closet for years. Pulled them out and one of my younger friends got excited when he saw the price tags for $2.99 on each of them.
The sad part is that that was "convenience store pricing" and not a great deal when I bought them.Comment

K-Mart had a pallet of 22LR priced at $8.?? a brick one fine day. I asked them to wheel it out to my truck. They refused, made me load it into a shopping cart and take it up front.
Did you know that a K-Mart shopping cart will collapse under 38K rounds of 22LR?
About seven bills for the ammo, who knows how much those carts cost.
I still have four-ish 50 cal ammo cans full of Thunderbolt from that deal, about 15K left. It's not PTSD, it's nostalgia.Comment
