I recently posted an ad in the WTB section seeking one of the new Glock 40 10MM pistols. While I knew it was a long shot, I figured someone may have one that recently moved to California and needed the money. This morning I received the following PM.

I have a lead for you.. Please contact Timothy on falconbrown112@gmail.com regarding your request. He is located in Loretto, Tennessee (TN), 38469 and can arrange delivery. I purchased items from him and they arrived in TOP condition..His cell Phone # is (931) 305-2319.

Why do you think it's a scam? I myself would be wary but it could be someone trying to help you out.

It appears to be a SCAM for several reasons. First, the Glock 40 is not on the roster, and therefore cannot be legally shipped into California for private party sale. Most if not all Calgun members are aware of the legal issues involved in buying an off roster gun. Second, this is the very first post by the originator, with no history of any kind on Cal guns. Also, the wording that the person can "arrange delivery" makes it very suspect.

Lastly, the wording is very general and could be used on any auction site. Nothing is gun specific.

There was a thread about this last week. Apparently, it has been happening on several gun sites with the exact same wording. Not sure what the scam is but it's definitely not legit.

Google the phone number and the same post shows up on multiple gun forums.

I always google a phone number before calling it if it comes from someone I do not know.
