    Dad got a new gun!

My 77 year old father just got his first new gun since 1964...a CMMG AR15!

He lives in Oregon so it's not the neutered low capacity version we have. I'm jealous.

He sighted it in Saturday and reported 1" groups at 100 yards. He's a good shot with his 7mm Mag, so I am sure he's accurate with it. He says it groups the best with 55 grain bullets. He wants his reloading equipment back now.

I need to make a trip home and check it out. I'm not sure if I will remember to bring the reloading equipment he gave me 25 years ago.

    Good for him.

I dont hear much positive about CMMG (and if it was really a free gift that probably means its a jam-o-matic) but since it was free he can probably sell it and the proceeds will go a long way towards getting a high end rifle.

                  There's nothing wrong with CMMG.

You should tell your dad that if he wants to keep that rifle unmolested he needs to oppose the gun control laws they're trying to push in Oregon.

I guess someone is more jealous than I am.

The friend that bought it for him owns the machine shop that makes the lower receivers for CMMG. I know A LOT of people that shoot them with no bad reports (there will always be the guy that uses a bad magazine, an underpowered reload, or a gun that refuses a specific load or brand of ammo).

My dad learned a lot about how bad California gun laws are when he complained about waiting 10 minutes for his NICS check to process. I told him he would have a 10 day wait here.

My nephew lives in Washington and is very familiar with their horror story unfolding up there. We are making sure he is educated. I should slip a bullet button on his rifle for a couple hours and only let him use low capacity magazines for a true California experience.

                          That's awesome!

You definitely need to get a father-son pic at the range when you go back.
