Where do you buy your ammo?

I'm looking to buy some .223 (or 5.56, if it's a good deal) ammo. Any recommendations on ammo vendor?

Also, is it legal to buy ammo online?

Yes, it's legal to buy online sans a few ultra-retarded cities (LA and San Francisco come to mind) from what I recall.

I get my ammo mostly from gun shows or reload my own and from Cheaper Than Dirt if I get the urge to buy online. Their prices are pretty good when they aren't exploiting a tragedy or pending legislation, but their shipping charges can bite you in the *** all the same.

It is legal though. You may or may not have to ship it to your brother-in-law depending on your local ordinance.

Don't buy from the major retailers (Cabela's, CTD, Gander Mountain, Midway, etc.), plenty of ammo only retailers with better pricing such as SG Ammo, LAX, PSA, Ammoman, TargetSports......

I buy 90% of my ammo online, less expensive even with shipping, but you need to buy bulk, nothing under 1,000 rounds

Perfectly legal to buy ammo online in San Jose. I get most of mine from Freedom Munitions, but sometimes Targetsportusa.com has good deals too.

I usually can find the same thing cheaper even when it is on sale from Cabelas.
LOL, I only bought once from LAX and the case was stolen from the FedEx terminal after it arrived there.
I threw them on my list because they came to mind, that's the only reason.

I bought once from Cabela's using the coupon "Frosty 20". It was free shipping and $X off of orders of 100 or more. I got 450 rounds of 9mm Remington UMC for something like $84. It came out to 19.5 cents per round for new ammo. Then I discovered Freedom Munitions and slickguns.com

I buy all my ammo at Walmart. Now I take ammo as payment for jobs I've taken up for my brother and he always orders from Ammoman.com. I have never had any issues with the ammo ordered from them, and they have decent prices.
