This is regarding an FEG P9M I found on the site. First off, is it even legal to import into California (I know it has to have a 10rnd magazine). Second, since Gunbroker vendors do not take credit card purchases or paypal, how does one go about buying anything there? Third, do I need to seek out a CA FFL first before I purchase the firearm?

Gunbroker n00b question
"After a shooting spree, they always want to take the guns away from the people who didn't do it. I sure as hell wouldn't want to live in a society where the only people allowed guns are the police and the military." - William S. 1- check on the CA DOJ roster to see if its on there. Use google.
2- many gunbroker vendors do take credit cards. Ya just gotta give them the card info over the phone. There's also money orders, checks, and cash.
3- while you don't necessarily need a local FFL lined up, you'll need to so sooner or later so might as well find one first. If anything, to find out what their transfer costs would be for online purchases. That can be any amount & typically ranges from $25 to $100+, so it's useful for your total purchase price.---------------------

Here is a link to the firearm roster.
It would be advisable to have an FFL lined up, so there is no big surprise as far as costs.sigpic

Like others mentioned, chk CA roster first, then find a local FFL and find out how much they charge to receive the gun. You will need to pay sales tax on it as well. Some FFLs require a CA legal magazine with the gun. Add 3% for credit card purchases. You could pay by personal chk wait till it clears and or postal MO. I personally would pass if the seller has more then 3 negative feedbacks.
Arent FEGs copies of BHPs? Dont think they will be on the roster unless C+R.Don't take refuge in the false security of consensus.
What you leave behind is not what is engraved in stone monuments, but what is woven into the lives of others.

not all vendors charge extra for credit cards, and some charge as high as 5%Like others mentioned, chk CA roster first, then find a local FFL and find out how much they charge to receive the gun. But ya most important thing to do is to shop around for shipping prices, most LGS's will bend you over to ship a gun to them (as they prefer you buy from their inventory)
But a lot of home based FFLs practically specialize receiving online sales and have MUCH better prices (less overhead working from home than out of a store). Plus most of them are smarter than random idiots behind a counter as they are business owners and usually have way more experience with the ATF/CA DOJ and their asinine laws. Just my $0.02Unless we keep the barbarian virtues, gaining the civilized ones will be of little avail. Oversentimentality, oversoftness, washiness, and mushiness are the great dangers of this age and of this people." Teddy Roosevelt

1. Check Roster, if you are not otherwise exempt, to be sure the gun can be transferred to you.
2. Make sure vendor will ship to CA; also check out vendor's feedback rating to decide if you want to do business with them.
3. Find a local FFL who will receive/transfer and ask them what they charge. Remember they will also have to collect CA state tax as well as DROS and whatever transfer fees they charge.
4. Bid/buy the item. Communicate with the vendor via GB and determine how they want payment. If they don't take CC you can go to the bank and get a Cashier's Check, or go to Post office and get PMO. Some will take personal checks but they will hold until it clears the bank, typically.
Do your homework first and good luck.sigpicComment
