Just purchased my first gun today

Congratulations!
I too bought my very first gun. A Colt LE6920CMP-B from armsunlimited. It’s still in jail and won’t be released until tomorrow 5:38pm. Yes, I count every minutes! lol The 10 days waiting is killing me. I spent a ton of money of accessories and ammo. Also bought a Plano 36” all weather case for It.
I know everyone here understands the excitement and anxiety of the first firearm. I just can’t wait. I feel like a kid waiting to open his Christmas gift
I also would like to thank the CGN community. I've learn so much here. There is A LOT of valuable information to digest.

+1 on Gem. First time I went to a range the rule was you couldn't shoot alone if you'd never done it before. Wasn't a suicide thing; was a safe shooting thing.

Good idea; so the RSOs don't yell at you all day... and you know how to work an AR.

Also; read up on cleaning. ARs need a lot to keep working. Not a rifle you wipe down with oil to prevent rust and just put away after use... will start jamming up if not partially disassembled, cleaned, and oiled in certain spots after use... only up side; easy to partially disassemble.

I have put a ton of effort into educating my wife that "if guns kill people, then pencils misspell words." I think shes slowly starting to accept the fact that guns aren't "evil." and if responsibly owned, can do good. Thankfully, now we have one less ignorant citizen

Could not tell from you post if you have any experience with firearms. If not it would be a good idea to not go it alone but go through the manual of arms as well as your first range experience with an experienced shooter. The buddy system is a good thing when learning to be a safe shooter.

Thanks for the advice. I've shot hand guns and shotguns several times, and know how to do basic things like reload, unload, inspect the chamber, etc. Its just first time shooting a rifle/ar15. Would ranges still require me to be with a friend? I'm quite familiar with how to properly hold the gun (thanks to BB and pellet guns) and feel comfortable with all the functions of the ar15 (thanks to YouTube)

Congrats! A fair warning, though: You will soon decide that you need 1 gun for each purpose (shotgun, pistol, rifle). Then, you will realize that you need specialized versions of each (HD shotgun, revolver, bolt-action rifle). Then, you will decide that one caliber for each is not enough, so you get a 22lr version of each of those things, as well as a full-power caliber of each. Suddenly you have 18 guns. Enjoy!

Welcome to the club! You're going to love the MP15. Very good for a first time rifle/gun. Also you may want to keep a close eye on your wallet... they tend to manipulate you into buying more firearms.... next thing you know you have multiple handguns and rifles.
