I think its that time, reloader

Now that Im 5 miles from the shooting spot all my reserve ammo has been going bye bye too fast! Twice a week and the thought of shooting USPSA is making me think I need to get back at it.

I had a Hornady LNL with a shell feeder and I HATED it! Never seemed to work right. Had to always mess with it.

Is there a reloader on the market that has less issues? I want it to be fun and to crank out some ammo. Not have to deal with fixing this or that.

Ideas? Im looking for .40 cal and .45 cal for the most part. Riffle, .308 and maybe some 5.56 rounds.

I resisted for far too long. Dillon is the only way to go.

The automatics can be tricky unless set up for just one cartridge. I would set up the auto for the pistol you are going to shoot the most and then load rifle on a single station press.

You want the "as it should be" upgrade.

Cry once and get a Dillon 650 with the case feeder. Seriously the most magical piece of equipment I own. With an uninterrupted hour you will have 500 rounds of high quality ammo.

The Dillon 550 is the one you will have to mess with the least. The 650 will allow you to crank out more ammo, but the primer system is more finicky.

Changes on the 650 are a piece of cake.

eta Either buy a bunch of primer pickup tubes or break down and buy the auto-filler. Loading primer tubes manually is tedious as all hell but keeping the primer system fed is the biggest drag on your production rate. Before I bought the auto filler, I would spend the evening before reloading night flipping primers and filling tubes. That way I could focus on reloading the next night and not have to muck about with primers.

Get the Dillon for your auto cartridges and a Redding T7 turret for your rifle loads, much faster than any single stage press as dies don't necessarily have to come off, example the T7 can hold 3, 2 die sets and still have a station left over. I have found it to be much quicker than the 3 single stage RCs I once had setup.

I've owned 550s and 650s. I still own 550s. I prefer the simpler, easier, less expensive and versatility of the 550.

I too am considering a Dillon what is the best way to compare the 550 to the 650? Anyone have a side by side comparison? Any place in the Central Valley or NorCal have them set up to look at?
