    American Eagle xm33c

I bought some 50BMG American Eagle ammunition. It is all Lake City 2013 brass but it looks worse then some ammo I have that is 50 years old. I am not saying it is bad but have any of you bought this and can advise on how good it is. For two year old brass it looks bad, doesn't mean it is though.

All AE that I buy (5.56) looks like hell but functions flawlessly

Pics? Military brass isn't polished after manufacturing so it not going to be shiny. This is so that you can visually verify than it went through the annealing process.

Most real military brass looks good though.

I'd offer to sell OP some South African, but I don't know if it's reloadable or not. Apparently some is and some isn't.

I understand it is not polished like commercial ammo after annealing. But for 2 year old brass just looked like more corrosion then would expect since the packaging didn't show signs of moisture. I am sure it will fire okay. Just wondering what other people's experience with it was. I took some pics will post once I figure out how to.LOL

Looks like they went through dirty dies. I'd still shoot them.

Oh I am definitely going to shoot them. But you may be right about dirty dies. Had not thought about that.

That's probably what happened since the areas that the dies don't touch are shiny.

I do believe you are correct JDay. After looking at them more after your suggestion, that is what it looks like.
In the OP I may have worded it wrong. I was just trying to see if this is how all of it comes or did I just get lucky.
When I can at work tomorrow I will post the twin city 1944 AP that doesn't look too much worse then this.
