Here' one reason ^^^^

Where I go shooting I don't have to worry about other shooters, ever. The only people on MY range is me and who ever comes with me.

That is why I am joining the Apple Valley Gun Club. If there is no scheduled event I can shoot anytime I want 08:00-22:00, 7 days a week. With 4 pistol ranges I don't see most events interfering.

Why is shooting in the desert so special? No clearly defined areas. Carting stuff in and out. Not knowing who else you might run across. Snakes.

The Lions Club range at Hgwy 18 and Rabbit Springs Rd in Lucerne has none of the 'problems' I mention. They have paper and steel targets on both the rifle and pistol range. 6-8 dollars and unlimited paper targets. And they do periodic lead recovery. Unlike shooters in the desert.

My only problem is the range is open only Tuesday evenings and Saturday mornings.

Can you do the El Presidente drill on a range? Can you set up a 10 target run-and-gun stage and go through it with your timer not picking up stray shots from everyone else? Can you fast draw from a holster and empty the magazine as fast as you can pull the trigger? Can you shoot at steel with shotguns and rifles?

I wish that were open more days and better hours. They would get a lot more business including mine. But nope.

^This. Although there are times where I would prefer using a range (zeroing a scope,etc) , the range rules of most ranges are too restrictive for my style of shooting. No rapid fire, no drawing from a holster, no steel targets, range breaks, etc.
