    I feel stupid.

    Hi all
Can someone tell me why some guns are banned by name in California?
Why we can have a rifle like Colt but we can't get another one called something else but the do the same work.
Are the law makers think we are that stupid and they can do whatever they want...WTF...I'm so stupid.

    Remove logic from gun laws.

    Make sense now?

when i was looking into buying my Px4 Storm i really wanted the model with the stainless steel slide, real nice two-tone Beretta

only problem was, even though its was the EXACT same slide as the non stainless model, the State didn't think it was safe for me to purchase

i should really be grateful to the State, they saved me $100, the difference between the stainless/non stainless Px4...i feel so much better knowing i have someone in government looking out for my financial interests

I have often posted that trying to find logic in California gun laws will make your head explode - if you make the mistake of assuming those laws are actually about guns.

View them instead as a way a legislator may 'do something' about 'a problem', such that s/he may go to her/his electorate and say 'look how effective I am at protecting you - re-elect me!'.

No one ever goes back to the legislators and demands reparations when the laws don't work to make anyone any safer. And they never work - because guns are not the problem, and gun buyers who might obey the laws are not problems, either.

Those that don't know history are bound to repeat history.

Hitlers gun ban was plagerised with the 1968 gun control act

In 1989 Roberti Roos named guns that were evil. They can tell by looking at it what is illegal pornagraphy and what is an evil gun. They just can't tell why some guy committed mass mirder of kids in not cal.

This ban led to several other bans by name or feature.

Spend some time and read up on the history of this nonsense.
Rule 1- ALL GUNS ARE ALWAYS LOADED

Rule 2 -NEVER LET THE MUZZLE COVER ANYTHING YOU ARE NOT PREPARED TO DESTROY (including your hands and legs)

Rule 3 -KEEP YOUR FINGER OFF THE TRIGGER UNTIL YOUR SIGHTS ARE ON THE TARGET

Rule 4 -BE SURE OF YOUR TARGET AND WHAT IS BEYOND IT
            (thanks to Jeff Cooper)

If you stop thinking of the laws as being about controlling "guns" and realize they are about controlling "people" then it will make more sense. Especially if you also understand that by "people" they DON'T mean criminals.

According to some of the guys I've spoken to who used to work at the legendary San Fernando Valley stores back in the good ole days. DOJ actually went to gun stores and cherry picked evil looking guns off the racks and asked sales people what each one is and noted it. That is how the ban lists were made.

The antigunners know nothing about guns. They never dreamed that new makes and models can be introduced so easily nor could stampings be changed so easily. They thought that by banning Colt AR15s and Bushmaster XM15s they would have killed the AR market and by banning Chinese AKs they'd kill the AK market. They are just clueless.

The serious and correct answer is that they started with a somewhat comprehensive list of the then currently available guns that were of the type that they wanted to ban. The legislature gave to the DOJ BOF regulatory authority by statute to update the list with additional makes and models as they became available/identified. However, BOF never did it and then a court case eliminated the ability of the BOF to update the list. Thus, the list is frozen as is. If the legislature had its way, the list would be constantly updated and include pretty much ever AR and AK out there and as soon as a new one became available, it would get listed.

Tried to ban certain "assault weapons" by name and it didn't work out so well. But do not forget the other part, without the bullet button most modern sport rifles would still be banned.
^^^The above is just an opinion.

The ridiculousness makes my blood boil every time I think about and try to comprehend it. And I don't even live in CA anymore. The ignorance in office is asinine.

Don't worry, the new list is coming out in two weeks. Keep checking the DOJ website every Friday at ~4pm.
