    Raahauge shooting range

Hey guys i am planning on going tomorror and wanted to ask. Some questions.

Is the $30 fee good for both rifle and pistol or is it 30 per one?

Also i nees to sight in a rifle but want to shoot pistol as well, but i dont want to pay 60 for a few hours of shooting. What do you think i should do if i have to pick one?

Are there any places besides burro canyon cause i really dont like that place anymore?

    Thanks guys

Go to West End Gun Club, a Limited Membership is only $65 per year plus $5 per visit. Both rifle and pistol, all day.
    Much friendlier than Raahauge's.

It's only 20 minutes from Rancho Cucamonga.

$30 to use the range! How do they stay in business?

I think $30 is for both? Id guess

I've never shot their rifle/pistol ranges aside from SSA matches, and the rest of the time im shooting clays. From what I could gather it's a one time fee. They have a 100 yard rifle range which is usually packed. And then a punch of spare separated "ranges" people shoot pistol and rifle through.

As for burro I feel the same, my last 2 times there on the public range, we're not pleasant.

        Have you tried Angeles?

Their clays, many people/a lot of my friends avoid/boycot this range like the plague due to its high range fee's, and owner/safety (or lack there of) course.

I prefer Prado 5 stand, but sometimes my buddies drag me there for sporting clays instead of 5 stand.

Id say that price mostly just controls the crowds, I shoot clays there often and the rifle and pistol range is always packed on the weekends. The small shooting range they have is peanuts compared to the clays, duck ponds, and pheasant fields they run. They'll stay in business just fine

For $30 you get one private 35+ yard bay for 2 hours. you can shoot rifles, pistol or shotguns at this bay. If you are with more than one person, you all stay within the bay, u can shoot at the same time (please be sure to practice safety).

U bring your own targets (no tanner) or buy paper n discs there. Some suggestions are paper, clays, cans, milk jugs. U can bring steel but the RO has to approve It. They have wooden stands up and u can bring your cardboard and staple it on (They will do it for u too but due to wind, it falls off)

They are pretty relaxed about their rules, u can practice holster shooting, shoot faster than one round a second and use steel cased ammo.

Aside from the 35 yard bay, there is a 100 yard range. They are pretty cool about u using it if there is no one there but usually weekends are busy. The 100 yard is same price for 2 hrs. If u are there on weekday, they allow u to stay on premises n go to 35yd bay and then the 100yd range.

Lately, its been so busy on the weekends i go, they were strict on the 2 hrs. I think if u ask them if u can use the bay for 1 hr and the 100yd for 1 hr they are cool with it. usually the 35yd bays are busier than the 100yd so they want u to go to 100yd bay.

there is also a metal gallery range, clay shooting and peasant hunting, they might have more but i usually go for the range.

PM me if u have any questions.

I have been before, sorry i didnt state that. But when i went i only shot rifle and was witg other people who were shooting but we all had our own little bench. It was nice. I have been shooting on sundays before at other places and no one was around i am some what hoping its that way tomorrow atleast in the morning.

I cant a stand burro anymore. I have gone for years and its always loke they are doing you a favor. New shooters are always talked to like they are stupid and the RO's are crazy old men who talk crap. I dont get it. It used to be a lot of fun.

As camw said, check out wegc. Nice range, limited membership for $65 gets you $5 access friday Saturday and Sunday 8-4. Target positions at 25, 50, and 100 yards. Pistol side has positions starting at I think 10 yards. Full memberships open up in april, $240 + $240 initiation gets you 24/7/365 access to main range above plus back bays with positions out to 500 yds. See their website for more details.

WEGC looks like they have 11 bays and a main bay (rifles?). With the cheaper weekend membership prices, is there any reason to not go with WEGC if you're not into clays?

How's the weekend private bay reservation & rifle range on the (compared to Raahaague's)?

Only the main range is available to limited (weekend ) members. There is a rifle and pistol side on the main range. If you are not into clays, it is a great bargain in my opinion. ROs are all cool and keep good control of the range but don't get all up in you s$!#. The only time I've ever seen it near capacity is the one day a month the CG C&R guys have there shoot.

Does the WEGC management have their **** together yet? I'd like to join, but it seems that with all of the infighting that's been going on the last few years, it could be a risky $500 to spend.

The guys that got elected to the board then decided to use their positions to use club money to file more lawsuits without a vote of the board are gone. There are still lawsuits going but I haven't seen any effects at the range level. I don't believe any of this will have any long term negative impact on the club. I joined last may and renewed for this year. It's definitely worth the $240 a year to me. I can leave my house at 6 am and be there and shooting by 630, usually with the entire 50 position main range to myself. Or get home from work and throw the guns in the car and be shooting in 20 minutes. Haven't done it yet but it's nice knowing if I decide to go shooting at midnight I can. Also since I use the range 3 or 4 times a month minimum, and my wife go about half the time, it works out to like $5 a trip or less.

Thanks guys for your help. I did end up going and i had a lot of fun. U was there for about four hours. It beats burro any day of the week. Getting a private bay for 30 bucks is cool with me versus 80 for burro. I will have to look into wegc, the only thing is for me right now thats a lot of money for a membership but it is worth it for 24 hour access any time you want. Thanks for the help guys.
