The way the law is written you could be charged for having a spring for a standard-capacity magazine.

Where exactly do you get that from this?

32311. (a) Except as provided in Article 2 (commencing with Section 32400) of this chapter and in Chapter 1 (commencing with Section 17700) of Division 2 of Title 2, commencing January 1, 2014, any person in this state who knowingly manufactures or causes to be manufactured, imports into the state, keeps for sale, or offers or exposes for sale, or who gives, lends, buys, or receives any large capacity magazine conversion kit is punishable by a fine of not more than one thousand dollars ($1,000) or imprisonment in a county jail not to exceed six months, or by both that fine and imprisonment. This section does not apply to a fully assembled large-capacity magazine, which is governed by Section 32310. (b) For purposes of this section, a "large capacity magazine conversion kit" is a device or combination of parts of a fully functioning large-capacity magazine, including, but not limited to, the body, spring, follower, and floor plate or end plate, capable of converting an ammunition feeding device into a large-capacity magazine.

How about I sell the mag & follower with the gun and the wife sells the spring and floor plate to the same guy 5 minutes after we complete the DROS? California is a community property state so my wife and I own all our mags jointly.

The mag body is where you will run into issues as it is a part specified in the law as part of a high capacity mag.

If you see illegal items listed in the marketplace, please report it. We'll take it from there. Normally it's just a case of the seller being unaware and 99% of the time they're okay with being informed and the item being pulled.

If you want to troll for breaking the law, do it elsewhere.

Floor plates and followers are listed too. It doesn't make either one able to covert a reduced capacity magazine to standard capacity.

I posted about that before. You might try to read that first. For what you say to be true, then any reduced capacity magazine is illegal since they use the same followers and floor plates as standard capacity magazines.

A follower might if the factory 10 rounders are limited by the follower with a built in extension to limit pushing in more than 10 rounds, a la springfield xd 9mm.
