    Hearing protection for my wife...

My wife started the 10 day wait today on her first gun purchase. She has always shot guns I already have. She recently expressed interest in having some independence regarding shooting. I told her if she showed some initiative like getting some training separate from me and buying a small safe I would buy her what she wanted. She got some one on one with a couple of different trainers and ordered a small approved safe. She got her HSC, did a PPT on a S&W M&P .22 today, got a little cleaning kit and some ammo. My thinking is that when she is completely comfortable with everything about the M&P .22 the M&P 9mm will be the same grip hold and everything. Anyway I made this a long story but I'm looking for electronic hearing protection for her. I have a decent set of Peltor Tactical as my hearing is so bad that I can't hear range commands with conventional muffs. Any info about mid range or even cheap electronic hearing protection would be appreciated. Thanks, Bob

By the way we were at Ammo Bros Ontario for the PPT and she was impressed with how comfortable all of the crew there made her feel. I've always liked Ammo Bros but I had never been to the Ontario store before. Really good people there and a nice store!

Do they seem to work okay? I bought some cheap ones at Turners once. I don't remember why I returned them but I do remember returning them.

Ditto. There are certainly more expensive pairs out there. But this is a solid choice and unbeatable for the price.

You can look at Pro Ears Gold if you really want to spend some $$

Spend good money on Good ear protection. Losing your hearing is no joke and hearing aids can cost thousands.

That makes about as much sense as a "cheap" motorcycle helmet.

Damage to the inner ear by loud noises is cumulative...hearing protection is an area in which I would not try to save money.

I like wife's and my Sordin headphones, but they not especially cheap.

While the Impact Sport are good, They leave a little to be desired for handgun and rifle shooting. I own them and use them for high volume Bird hunting and shotgun sports. They have a NRR of 22.

I upgraded to the Impact Pro electronic http://www.amazon.com/Honeywell-R-01...rds=impact+pro Which have a NRR of 30 and protect better for handgun and centerfire rifle shooting. The Impact Pros are are about $20.00 more and are well worth it and give you a bit more protection.

Actually cheap hearing protection can do a good job of protecting from loud noises, but the difference is if you can also hear range commands.

Use cheap electronic muffs with internal plugs. You can still hear commands but get much better protection than muffs alone.

Get her custom molded ear plugs, comfort is paramount. Get her outer electronic muffs of her liking, pink?.
