Yes,the only mini that isn't rated for .556 is the target model. All other models are good to go.

From what understand the answer is no. I think it has to do with the higher pressure of the 5.56 round? Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

oneaudiopro is correct, the only Mini not rated (no matter what is stamped) for 5.56 is the Target model.

According to Ruger you can. If you have a manual you can also find it in there I believe. Been a long time since I read mine.

Yup it's on page 12 of my manual you are right. Although from everything I have ever read on other rifles it is a no go. But hell it's nice to know because I have always kept my ammo. Separate because of that. That's what I get for skipping page 12 ha ha

I looked pretty deeply into this a long time ago and came across some info that suggested the earlier production models has problems with over pressure from the 5.56 round but it was addressed fairly quickly. The ones from the past few decades are GTG.

My factory manual for a Series 181, states 5.56 is Good to Go.
