    Question on the UTAS 15

Is the California version just a shorter magazine tube (as in blocked, and if so, with a dowel or some other permanent measure)? And does that create any problems? I was buying this as a HD weapon, so the capacity was the big factor in the decision. If it is a dumbed down Kommifornia approved weapon, maybe I should go with an auto shotgun?

Honestly, the magazine capacity is the least of your worries with the UTAS. The length of pull is too short for anyone but a hobbit and the reliability of the GEN 2 design is little better than the GEN 1, which was pretty awful.

If a home defense shotgun is your goal, I'm going to recommend that you stick to a proven design like a Mossberg 590 or a Remington 870. Magazine capacities can get to 8+1 which should safely see you through any defensive encounter. If you insist upon 10+ rounds without reloading the Kel-Tec KSG is a better design than the UTAS in my opinion but I still don't trust mine for self defense - it's strictly a range toy.

    My two pence.
