If anything 70% of gun owners are actually irresponsible. There is only a select group of people who own firearms who focus on safety first. Half of us aka major hobbyists, even hobbyists act like idiots even tho they know safety

Then you have all of the illegal and gun owners who have grandpas night stand 357 or "9" who just know it goes bang and how to pull the trigger.

I have heard of some people being injured and even killed during their morning commutes. That doesn't seem to bother anyone.

The OP's point, and it should be emphasized, is that millions of rounds are fired every year at a typical shooting range and the rate of injury is just about negligible. Shooting is far, far safer than swimming, for example.

Don't worry about the people opposing it. They are are small minority of liberals in a Republican County and the range is being built on tribal land (Reservation). They can do nothing to stop it from opening this summer.

Regarding outdoor range, I've been on two distinct types. The "self policing" with no rangemaster and those with a rangemaster.
Its an outdoor range. There will always be a range master and several RSOs on duty during operating hours. The main objections I've heard are the school nearby (over half a mile away, will Hills and trees blocking it), that isn't even in the direction of fire, and that there's a trail nearby. The neighbors also are saying there's going to be noise, but they live right next to the freeway as it is. Not to mention that the berm will muffle the sound. Safety violations will not be tolerated at the range and repeat offenders will be banned.
