    Target Masters

So yesterday I went to do a PPT (I was selling a PPQ to a fellow Cal gunner) and they said it's not possible because the owner is trying to stop of roster PPT's unless it's from an LE. I thought this was BS and was pretty pissed. I came from san jose and the buyer came from daly city. I usually do my transfer's at ugimports but was not able to because Anthony was out of town. Long short we ended up going to reeds for the PPT and while i was at reeds i got a call from one of the empolyees at target masters and he said he talk to the owner and if reeds couldn't do the PPT they would do it.

I know they could refuse service but is it Illegal to deny doing the PPT because i'm not a LE transferring a off roster pistol?

always a good idea to call ahead of time.

look at their website, i believe they state their policy.

So you where transferring a non roster gun to another person and they stopped it because you where not a LEO? If you are doing a PPT even with a off roster handgun it is legal if neither is a LEO. WTF Target Masters?

The liberal see's the glass as half full and tries to take more.
The conservative see's glass as half empty and tries to keep it that way.
I'm with the people on the side just pouring water in the glass trying to get a drink!

Yes I was transferring a non roster gun to another person (It was a Walther PPQ) and it was because I'm not a LEO.

There are 15+ shops within 30 minutes of TM. Why the hell do people still go there for anything? Worst case scenario you have to drive an extra 30 minutes past TM, and then 30 minutes back, that's still an hour... which is within TM's average transaction time of 45-90 minutes, while the other shops can do it in 10 if they aren't busy so you can still actually end up saving time.

Target Masters (aka "Ghetto Gunz"). nuff said. some say that place merits its own category on this website, and not in a good way.

I kinda like them, though. Great prices, good selection, no afraid to quote price over the phone, not hovering over every customer that enters, they rent guns to total "virgins" (thus providing a valuable service no other shop does AFAIK).

Lots of cute girls shooting for the first time. Eavesdropping on that action is great entertainment in itself and I plan on using a few of the "jewels" in my upcoming Zombie Epic.

PS-the are "now hiring" (and no doubt will be shortly firing).
Am I a good shot!?!, YEAH I'M A GOOD SHOT!....i just got bad aim

That not hovering over every customer that enters makes it the only range in the bay area where I wish I was wearing plates.

Things to do besides go to Targetmasters:
                  1. Go to another gun shop
                  2. Go to another gun range
                  3. Pay a hobo $5 to kick you in the junk, because that transaction won't take 90 minutes with someone making up extra nonsense paperwork.

It was a Sunday and not a lot of gun shops are open on Sundays the only other one if found was reeds and wanted to avoid them due to there charge for storage fees if you don't pick up your gun within 24 hours. Other wise I would do it at any other shop.

Other than Reed's you've got Kerley's and Mil-Spec Armory off the top of my head(drive farther and you have J&R).

Then there's the nuclear option, never schedule anything for a Sunday if that's what it takes to avoid TM.

I shot at TM for about 15 years (note PAST TENSE, don't shoot there anymore).

The owner is a nut job with his own view of reality. For a while, he was going to force everybody who shoots there to buy lead-free ammo for the "safety of the employees".....

I am not surprised by any looney thing coming from TM, the owner thinks he can do anything he wants. It's his range, and it was my feet going out the door.

They are always hiring. They truly will hire anybody. For a while they had a guy working there who had Tourette's syndrome. Nice guy but he would explode with twitches, loud yelps and howls about every ten seconds. Not sure if they ever let him fire a gun....

Oh, I know. But they're only half of the problem at most. Fortunately the bulk of the morons who go to TM don't know about any of the other shops in the area.

What I don't get is why so many people who know better, willingly go there(I know some people in person who complain about TM as much as I do, but don't go anywhere else).

If anyone on calguns went to a fast food restaurant where it took 20 minutes to cook a burger, the cook spits in it, and the cashier flips you off on the way out the door while a customer slams the door in your face, and both sides of your car are keyed, they'd never go back. But for some silly reason if it's a gun shop, even if they've personally had a bad experience, some of them keep going back.
