    Firearm as part of costume

There was a costume contest at my work today. One of the guys here dressed up as an 'wild west gunman', and brought what looks like a very real-looking single action revolver to work (I was sitting too far away to tell if it was real or not). No orange-tipped barrel. He cocked and dropped the hammer a couple times, pointing the gun at the ceiling (floor 1 of a 2 story building), and it sounded like all metal components.

Maybe I'll swing by his cubicle later...

It probably is real, ive heard of people getting away with using real guns as props because people think they are fake on halloween

I don't interfere with anyone else celebrating. I simply choose not to for personal reasons.

It may be real, but it's also very possible it's airsoft. There are many airsoft revolvers on the market, with all the moving parts. And it's not hard to remove the orange paint.

If it's real, it seems reckless and stupid to me.

If it's airsoft, it's probably ok in an environment (like work) where you know most people. But I wouldn't take either to a random halloween event or party where I didn't know a large percentage of the crowd.

Assuming the gun was real, doesn't it count as open carry since he's dressed as a cowboy?

Just be careful....remember a few years back some real cops went to a disturbance call at a halloween party and shot the guy who was carrying a fake gun.
