mossy 500 jammed in bizarre way

So I decided to take it out for cleaning (I rarely ever touch the thing cuz its my HD gun and just sits around most of the time). I try to clear the magazine for a cleaning, and the pump wouldn't go back more than 1/3 of the way. So I pulled off the barrel and went to remove the trigger assembly to see what was wrong and the trigger assembly is also stuck and refusing to release. The safety button as well only goes from safe to halfway released, it can't full release. I'm not entirely sure what is going on, but seeing as how ammo is still stuck in the magazine (not the chamber) I can't ship it out to mossberg for help.

On my 500 I can unscrew the mag tube from the receiver, worth a try.

Tried, doesn't seem to be the case with this version. Or I may be retarded. 50/50 chance. Maybe this is the excuse I've been looking for to get the Kel-Tec KSG or UTAS-15 I've been eyeing lol. I would take it to a smith, but it just doesn't seem worth it to have 200+ in charges for a $300 new shotgun.

Have you tried holding the fore piece in your right hand and slamming the buttstock on the ground .

Sometimes the inertia will open the action on pumps and some self loaders .

Uhhhhhh, thanks? Nothing like linking a video of a hairy naked dude disassembling firearms.

Just put the pump in the full forward position. Now the spoon can be pressed up just like if you were loading the shotgun. From there all you need to do is press on the retaining tabs and the shells will pop out of the magazine the same way they went in. Once unloaded you can continue with trying to diagnose the problem. Or just send it to Mossberg for service. Either way, that method should let you at least get the shells out.

I'll give this a go when I get home. Although I'm still leaning towards this being an excuse to get a space shotgun

I have both a Mossy 590A1 and a KSG. I bought the KSG to replace the 590 as my HD long gun as it is shorter, which makes clearing corners better for me, and it holds more ammo more ergonomically.

However, reloading the KSG under fire or in a stress situation is very very difficult. To date I have not heard of anyone figuring out a good way to do a tactical load or reload on a KSG/UTAS-15 type shotty.

I have done a lot of tactical training with the shotty and just cant figure out how to do a quick reload on this thing while maintaining readiness to fire off the round in the chamber.

I know some of you will push back on not needing to reload a beast that carries 14+ rounds. However, before spouting off, talk with some folks in the know about actual gun battles with shotguns and you will hear how quick you go through ammo.

The KSG kicks more than the 590. At a minimum I would also suggest the following mods; 1. the Pachmayr Decelerator Slip On Recoil Pad and 2. Hi-Tech's KSG "Extended" Tube Tactical Selector Switch (Gen 2).

Anyways...maybe some of this info will be of use for you.

Check to make sure your shell elevator is correctly seated.
