Any optometrists here? Eye retraining question.

I'm familiar with all the cross dominate threads and know about occluders, home made, professional made, patches etc so this isn't just another one of those questions.

I'm having desperately needed cataract surgery in a few weeks. Since my brain is going to be going through some sight readjustments anyway, it seems like the perfect time to try some real dominate eye retraining. The occluder technique is an effective accomodation for cross dominance, but I'm looking for a method to change it, not just accomodate it.

None of the references I've found discuss any method of permanently changing it.

Or, does the occluder method accomplish making a permanent change?

Sorry, I can't help you. I'm blind in one eye and I can't see out of the other.

I think I need to retrain my eyes also, but for color.

I see the dress as white and gold.

Undate - discussed this with my cataract surgeon yesterday and he said that most of the time eye dominance will always return to what it was before.

But - I retested my eye dominance haven't done it in years, and since my left eye got bad (previously cross dominant) got bad, I'm completely right eye dominant now. Crossing my fingers that it will stay that way.
