fullmd I enjoy the training and felt like I've learned a lot. I've been to handgun and shotgun classes. I won't say they are the best school out there. Since I was able to get a lifetime membership cheap it makes it worth it for me.

The training is very good and with cheap memberships abounding, it's a great bargain.

Awesome training! I can't recommend it any higher. Hit me up if you'd like a membership at cost.

Solid training. Lots of members have course certificates or memberships for sale if you need one.

I thought the training was very good. Have done front site 4 day pistol and i also did three classes with Aegis.

I did the two day handgun class. The near-religious morning session was BS, but the class was good.

I went through bootcamp in 68... Did not like doing it again.

Worth it. Always good to go to different schools and learn different techniques.

Front Sight Defensive handgun is great. The upper stuff is lacking a bit because it's not a money maker in a membership school. I've heard great things about the martial arts too and the ropes sure look like fun.

Marketing sucks but you can ignore it.

People talk trash but even the best shooters will come away with something there as there is a lot of discipline and even if you practice with your stance and grip you'll still get to practice some good drills. Shoot house is fun.

Memberships are cheap. Yep I can sell you one cheap.

The cost is in travel. Best to go with buddies and share a room and food and stuff. Then it becomes a fun trip away and ends up being cheaper than anything local unless you get lured by the casinos.

It's Cooper through and through which is good. It is Weaver though which some people have a problem with. If it bugs you then tell them to back off. I won't do 30 degree blades. I stand more mod ISO tactical fighting but do isometric tension.

If you have an RV then camp right in front in the dirt. Little rough but good times.

The wife and I did the 4 Day Defensive Handgun class. Excellent instruction. A lot of people don't like their insistence on the weaver stance. FS is just one school. The best thing to do is to train with multiple teachers. You will get training with different methods etc and you can pick and choose what you like or does/does not apply in your situation or what does/doesn't work for you.

If you get a membership(highly suggested), you can train all you want for the cost of a gas/hotel and ammo. TONS of different classes available. It makes it especially inexpensive if you and the wife both go. Compare a FS class to a local 2 day class and you'll see what I mean.

Solid training and excellent, I mean excellent teachers. That is one hallmark of FS. No drill sergeants there. Very family oriented too. A Disneyland for gun people. Seriously. Also, check out YouTube videos of FS Student of the Week.

                      Happy shooting and be safe.

FS is solid. Get your membership cheap and enjoy it. If you go two or three times its paid for itself (as long as you don't buy the membership directly from FS).

Not an attack. Just wondering. Sure I have and I'm very critical of the place but the basic 4 day handgun is actually pretty darn good. Beyond that the potential is there but no effort because it's not a money maker.

Not saying you but a lot of people dog it who have never been. Took me years to go because of it. There are local classes that suck and local ones that are great. Some of the prices are hard to swallow though.

I've already taken hundreds of hours of classes from Vogel, Hackathorn, Proctor, Pannone, etc. Don't want to sit through 4 days of basic handgun, Weaver style, in a class of 40+ people taught by guys who didn't create the curriculum. A curriculum by a guy who's firearms experience was taking a bunch of Gunsite classes.

I also feel that the way the place is presented and advertised is condescending. The constant barrage of emails; I saw a guy say he received 500 emails in a year? The time shares, the hotel, the condos, the planned community, Front Sight Texas. How every week there is a new level of membership, and act fast, it ends tomorrow, then woah, are servers were down, so we're extending the sale. I don't patronize organizations that operate in such a fashion.

I'm glad that people go and get firearms training, but it's not anything I want to be a party to.

That's my point. Never been so you can't talk about the actual training. It's a good value. It is what it is. Would I pay what's advertised? Nope. Did I get my membership for free? Yep. Got me in and I've spent little money for a bunch of classes. Have gone with buddies and had fun only time alone was with my kids as nobody has a kids class like they do.

Yep the marketing sucks. I can go on and on about the benefits. I could go on about drawbacks too.

Then again I could go on about drawbacks on some big name guys.

The thing is some people will not go and get training locally because it's 200 plus a class. They'll sign up for FS because they can get a membership for 50 bucks for life from someone. Then they'll go with their buddies or whatever. It may get the bug in them going and they continue on training with other outfits but at the minimum they can pull off the basics and be able to defend themselves. Maybe not be a mall ninja but have some basic skills.

They come on a forum and ask and people who have never been scare them away rather than giving constructive feedback.

So what if they teach Weaver. I'm not exactly a fan but believe me I don't want to be on the opposite side of a two way range from Brad Ackman or the crazy Doc himself. Get running and gunning and stance goes out the window anyway.

Now talking smack about that outfit at LAX and Burro that runs stupid drills nobody else does that violates the 180 degree rule. Yep. That's good advice to stay away. Not turn people away from solid training for cheap because you don't like the emails.

You know, I have taken some very good instruction from some local people and used to compete in Bullseye (I know that is much different).

I figured I'd see for myself as I have heard both very good and very bad things about the place.

Girlfriend has a 3 day conference in Vegas, so already paying for a hotel room. So, for the price of gas and ammo and one extra day's room fare I get to go and shoot for 4 days in April. If I learn something it is a bonus . Either way it will actually be cheaper than going to the range 4 days running.
