    question on where to mount?

just had dinner at my buddy's apartment today. he recently just made a purchase on his first handgun got a PX4 Storm in jail right now.

he bought a shotlock 1911 case from amazon and had it mounted in installed inside the vent where you'd put the air filter for the AC/Heater.

i thought that was pretty smart thing to do, since out of sight, out of mind kinda thing. but wouldn't it also mean when the heater turns on, it would also draw in whatever lead particles from the case, even if his gun is super clean?

his apartment is too small to keep a 500lbs+ safe, let alone one of those easy to break into small safe.

i suggested he could mount it to the bottom of this closet floor, but he's paranoid that if break-ins, the first place they look for is the closet and that would put his shotlock box in compromise.

i tried to search for some solutions for him on the "Firearms Accessories: Holsters, Safes, Lights & more" but didn't find anything specific for him.

figured i'd post it here hopefully will get some more ideas for him to look into.

    thanks.

He is REALLY going to have a problem getting to his pistol in the event of a break in. Or is it just stored in the vent when he is out of the house?

Lead particles??? Really? A total non-issue.

it's just stored there when he's out of the house and away from toddlers hands. he has another one of those quick access ones next to his nightstand.

lol.. that might actually be a good idea for him. since he jailed his first handgun. he's even thinking about getting a second one through PPT with extra mags to hide in his fake plants.. lol

heating vent is a location that a burglar will look for valuables. your friend needs to get a gun safe, place in a smart location and bolt down.

Well his apartment is only 700sqft if that at all. What kind of safe would you recommend my buddy to get?

the best his money can buy. the "Firearms Accessories: Holsters, Safes, Lights & more" section of the forum is a great place to begin the search.
