You guys saying it's not that effective should take a look at this Balistiics gel video. Still tumbles and fragments.

Irregardless of its quality/accuracy or effectiveness/lack of in penetration, the ATF shouldn't be trying to ban it as it's not truly a AP round. I've signed the petition and sent an email to the ATF voicing my opposition.

Woah! Ive found M855 to be more accurate at longer ranges than M193. After seeing the ballistic gel test, the proof is in the pudding.

My opinion is if you don't have any 855/109 then buy some. Worse thing is you
Go plinking with it, best thing is you can probably sell it down the line. Yeah, it's
.08 cents a round more than we want to spend, but hey, it's only $80 bucks.

          Big deal? No.

The Russian 5.45x39 (7n6) ban last year had the same effect as this. It was either out of stock everywhere or triple price overnight. It is now all over the place and down (not quite to its preban cost) in price.
I've got a crate of it for sale in the classified, less than anyone else, and all I've got are tirekickers.

I'm assuming theres a lot more m855 in the US than 5.45.

I have no use for it. It's hard on the backstop at my club's underground range, may start fires from sparks in the woods or desert and serves no purpose better than other ammo. It's not been very accurate in my ARs and for plinking or targets, 55 gr FMJ/surplus bullets work just as well. It serves no purpose for me in hunting, either.

That said, I don't like that it is being "banned" for the principle that I dislike bans on guns and ammo, period.

There are also a lot more 5.56 rifles in the US than 5.45.

I think that's what I paid for it at Walmart a year ago.

I bought a box at Walmart a year ago because it was actually the cheapest per round in stock at the time. I wont be buying any more, though I do like the lake city brass for reloading.
