It's supposed to be a tight pull. Get something to wrap the cord around... a wood dowel or something. The actual Boresnake kit comes with a black plastic handle to help you pull. Put some solvent on the front before the brush, and at the end of the tail some oil... one pull and you're done.

No, the .30 Cal is not large enough for the 9mm (.38 Cal).

I just stand on the "leader" end and pull up on the rifle/shotgun.

I never thought to do this. I just cuss at the pain of pulling it thorough sometimes. Thanks for the tip.

So what happens to the snake? Does it end up on the ground

No, it doesn't end up on the ground. Once you get past the brush part of the snake, it comes out fairly easily. Just grab the snake for the last couple of inches.

if you have a grate or doorknob or something nearby just tie or wrap the leader around it and pull. Works really good on new ones with handguns.

You can wash the boresnakes by putting them in a jar with hot water and detergent and shaking it. Then rinse and hang it to dry.

You can also remove the brushes from a boresnake if you want. Get a dental pick or similar thing and you can part the weave and remove the brushes.

I got it, I put mine in a sock and send it through the wash.

I love mine it works great.
Lord, make my hand fast and accurate.
Let my aim be true and my hand faster
than those who would seek to destroy me.
Grant me victory over my foes and those who wish to do harm to me and mine.
Let not my last thought be 'If I only had my gun."
And Lord, if today is truly the day you call me home, let me die in an empty pile of brass.
