I seek out consignments all the time as I tend to like older off list out of production guns. I also find deals on newer stuff I got a nice condition 3rd Gen G19 for $380 recently in a consignment case.

I like to buy consignment guns, but i would never sell one through consignment.
As has been mentioned, the gun store has to put it on a 30 day hold. It may sell during that time, but the buyer can't start DROS until after the 30 days have passed. The seller typically doesn't get paid until after the gun has been picked up by the purchaser, so there's an absolute minimum of 40 days from the time you consign it until you get paid and it will likely be more. The cut at my local store is 25%.

You'd be much better offering it at a slightly lower price in the marketplace and doing a ppt. If I think my Gen4 Glock is worth $600, I'll put it on consignment at the local shop and wait at least 40 days to get $450. Or I can post it here in the marketplace for $500, meet the buyer in the morning and have $500 in my pocket now.

I agree, consignment is a losing proposition.

I bought a consignment gun... its been a month since my first dros ended (doj canceled). It will be another 2 months until the shop has a second hand dealers license to start the dros again.

There are consignment deals to be had if there the gun is worth paying top dollar for.
However, assuming you have the time to sell your own gun, you will make more selling it via PPT.
