Covid now just a regular winter bug

But there is plenty of evidence to suggest the virus is on its way to becoming just another respiratory bug to contend with, alongside flu and others maybe lesser known, such as respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), rhinorvirus and adenovirus.

And last winter, there were estimated to be more flu deaths than Covid ones, in England - just over 14,000 compared with 10,000 - according to the UK Health Security Agency.

It was always just another cold. The first batch was feared to be the beginning of a viral driven pneumonia with high infection rate. We pretty much knew it wasn't a highly infectious viral pneumonia after the first few months. The whole thing was a scam to print money to enrich the ruling class.

      Your experiences may differ.

Got it 5+ weeks ago or so. Just like flu, for 4 days.. That was the only difference.

On 4+ long weeks of extreme fatigue. Just now getting better, but see weeks still ahead of me, of this.

FYI: NO clot shot, No flu shot.

      And not getting one either.

IMHO, not the same as flu/cold.

The SARS-CoV2 virus IS a different virus from those that cause the flu and common colds, but... yeah, this is how viruses work. Over time it has become well evolved to survive in humans. I don't know that we'll ever really be rid of it.

            Not that it matters.

            Who does it kill?
            - The obese
            - The elderly
            - The sick

These people were going to die soon anyway, sorry - government just likes to pretend we'd all live forever if only we got rid of viruses. Memento Mori.

They used to only announce flu variants. For countless decades.

All of a sudden they're giving them their own names (COVID, RSV, et al) to make them sound more sinister and frightening.

Got the bug - no fun.

I finally got the bug and it doesn't feel like the typical cold/flu (I'm in day 5).

Day 1: I awoke with a bad sore throat. Took my temperature and it read 98.2* (normal for me is 97.1*). Within six hours my temp went to 101.9, extremely nauseous, developed a running nose, and had a very bad case of the chills. Self tested and I was Covid positive. Went to urgent care, they confirmed, prescribed Paxlovid, took an EKG to see if I had a heart attack even though I had no chest pain (but my heart rate was a consistent 146 bpm). They gave be 1,000mg of extra strength Tylenol and sent me home.

Day 2: Fever remained the same, started to develop severe body aches, sore throat got better but cold got worse. Became moderately lightheaded at most any head movement. Heart rate subsided by morning.

Day 3: Fever hovers between 101.1 - 101.5. Body aches remain as does a bad cold and the chills, and I've lost sense of taste. Still difficult to keep balance while standing.

Day 4. Fever broke overnight. I awoke at 99*. My bed sheets, shorts and t-shirt I slept in were soaked. Sore throat was better, body aches had lessened a little, cold not as bad as before, and still had no sense of taste. Still lightheaded. I have developed a dry cough that when occurs, creates complications with body aches (mostly across my upper back).

Day 5 (today). Temp is at 98.2* Sore throat is gone, cold getting better, cough remains and body aches not as bad as yesterday. Still have no taste and remaining lightheaded but not as bad as yesterday.

Except for Day 1, I maintained an appetite even though I wasn't hungry. I was able to keep hydrated (about 65 oz of water daily). I have lost 7 lbs as of this morning, which achieves nearly half my goal if I had meant to lose weight. Today is the first day I can walk around the house without losing my balance (as long as I have something nearby to grab should I lose my way).

Decided not to take the Paxlovid based on recommendations of a cardiac nurse who works in a hospital, a nurse practitioner, and an MD 4 years out of medical school (known better as a nephew and two nieces). I stayed consistent taking 1,000 mg of extra strength Tylenol every 6-8 hours until this morning, when I switched to Advil to help with the body aches (I think the Advil is working).

I got the first two shots, didn't get the third (no regret). Everyone's Covid experience is different. I think leading a relatively healthy life with minimal complications (I have mild hypertension taking the lowest medication dosage) works in my favor. I hope to get back to my mundane life within three days (good time to get sick while society is on vacation).

I was vigorously attacked on a "Survivalist" site for saying this when covid first started. All the freedom loving guys there had no problem with mandates and forced jab for "their protection".
I will stand for truth even if I stand alone.

Some of us know that Covid is something different than the flu or any other viruses that were around before, the media is a mess, we will never know the truth, I had it, I was 41, no pre-existing health problems, it absolutely kicked my a**, years later I still don't think I've fully recovered, I never took an MRNA injection

Covid is not the same as in the beginning. As is normal for viral illness, over time it became less dangerous but easier to spread. Viral infections do not mutate to become worse. Over time they have to become more infectious to survive. To do that they sacrifice virulence. The current variant is not dangerous to healthy people.

The only individuals that I am watching get the new variant are vaccinated. I have not seen any non vaccinated, previously infected persons catch it. This makes perfect sense because the vaccine messes up your T-cell immunity. Getting a virus provides long term multifaceted immunity.

The current variant presents as a moderate cold. Testing and handwringing is playing into the engineered hysteria.

I had BA.2, I was couch bound for several days. I had H1N1, I was fearful for my life, I lost 25#. The doctor refused to see me because there was noting to be done. How times change.
