Ashkenazi Jews are European which means largely Eastern European which means largely in ghettos for centuries. Which means limited genetic material in reproduction. Which means inherited disease - BRCA for breast cancer, Tay-Sachs, etc.

If I understand correctly - sickle cell is a variant of hemoglobin where the hemoglobin causes the red blood cell to change its shape and when the shape is so deformed it resists malaria. Having that then makes it less likely you will die from malaria. So in places where malaria is endemic - Africa - sickling is protective and so natural selection selects for increased sickle cell trait. Over generations this results in much higher rates of sickle cell anemia.

In the Spring of 2019 I had a regular appointment with my GP doctor. He discussed the issue of ACE receptor being the entry point, a theory which was being floated at the time. He stated that if that were true, he would expect the infection rates for Asians would be the greatest, then Caucasian and the Black population least. He said that when prescribing ACE2 inhibitors race had to be taken into consideration noting that what generally works OK for Caucasians did not work as well for Blacks.

This is aside from what the effects would be once you were infected, it was merely a theory based on scientific facts. I warned him that he should not widely disseminate that view lest he be labeled a racist, science be damned.

Unfortunately I took his advice to get the shot, I was (and still am) old, overweight and a heart condition. I am still paying the price for that mistake.

I'm not so sure. For years I just blew him off as another typical liberal enviro-wack- menalist. But that just based off of short news blurbs from mostly conservative leaning news clicky bait articles. I've listened to some of his arguments, especially on big pharma and the way it rolls over everything to get it's way. BILLIONS of pay outs ON THE RECORD for damages-- as simply baked into their business model. Special protections from politicians, big healthcare, FDA, WHO.... you name it.

I don't think he is 100% wrong, and he is passionate, and WILLING to go against the grain in his populist messages. The DNC hates him and FEARS him, The swamp and the Republican neocons dismiss him.

They all got played, and we continue to get played. These companies claim without the risk, and without immunity, they won't try coming up with anything new. And yet they still make many more billions in profit than they pay out in damages---even now.

If it were they got a pass, but made 50% less, then maybe that would be equitable.
