Had a conversation about COVID in the office

I dont talk about politics or COVID stuff much at work.

It started harmlessly enough. Headline ?Switzerland stops requiring vaccination for entry?

Another manager commented, ?I have one guy who isnt vacccinated?.

I respond ?Im glad we are getting back to normalcy?.

The response back was a terse look and ?I dont have patience for people that dont believe in science?.

The broad condemnation of people with other opinions and self appropriation of ?science? had me fuming. I shouldve said something more than ?oh? and walking away. We were just cordial and I didnt know her enough to engage in an honest convo.

Report him to HR for creating a hostile work environment.

Did you say things in the past maybe manager remembers? Another Manager? Are you in competition? The COVID issue is like an onion with many layers from government oversight and response all the way down to the actual disease and the people it effected. The vaccine/shot itself and all the mandates. The mandates and poor government handling is the one thing most Americans can usually agree on as being handled improperly. The vaccine/shot effectiveness is suspect and debatable. The safety of the shot, to some it is poison, others it did/does no harm. Yes, it COVID is now in that list of better to not talk about it at work, because some people can't discuss rationally without bias or emotion, just like politics and religion .

HR is NOT your friend. HR and managers are there for one purpose-To serve to the benefit of the company they work for. No matter what you tell them in confidence, you can be outed and ultimately, it is the company they will protect.

That she is aware of the vax status of a subordinate should raise alarms, yet here we are.

Exactly this too. Medical info is private info.

What the heck happened to people the last three years?

Smoking kills almost a half a million people a year. Do the math for over the last 3 years. Why don't we have a tobacco ban? Money. It's always money.

I think there is a covid forum.

FYI, there are medical codes in place to categorize unvaccinated and undervaccinated people. It appears HIPPA privacy is being ignored when it comes to your vaccination records, so I?m sure they have their list ready when the next variant starts spreading later this year.
We know they are lying, they know they are lying, they know we know they are lying, we know they know we know they are lying, but they are still lying. ~ Solzhenitsyn
