Chloroquine is effective in preventing the spread of SARS CoV in cell culture. Favorable inhibition of virus spread was observed when the cells were either treated with chloroquine prior to or after SARS CoV infection. In addition, the indirect immunofluorescence assay described herein represents a …
Chloroquine is a potent inhibitor of SARS coronavirus infection and spread
Chloroquine's mechanisms of action in inhibiting SARS-Cov-1. Please note that the article is from 2005 and from Fauci's own department at NIAND.
In addition to the well-known functions of chloroquine such as elevations of endosomal pH, the drug appears to interfere with terminal glycosylation of the cellular receptor, angiotensin-converting enzyme 2. This may negatively influence the virus-receptor binding and abrogate the infection, with further ramifications by the elevation of vesicular pH, resulting in the inhibition of infection and spread of SARS CoV at clinically admissible concentrations.
Also note that hydroxychloroquine is a less toxic metabolite of chloroquine, o there was never any valid reason to doubt that there might be an effect. This study pretty much MANDATED that a similar study be done immediately on SARS-Cov-2, yet we got agenda."What is a moderate interpretation of the text? And if you can't procure hydroxychloroquine, quercetin is an over-the-counter dietary supplement that performs like (but not as well as) hydroxychloroquine and can be taken as an alternate. Don't forget zinc, which goes hand in hand with the above.https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/16115318/
