If you win in California the payout is potentially much larger. The state law basically says a firing related to religious discrimination (likely the avenue you'd take if you were refused a religious exemption), the company owes you all future earnings you would have received. It doesn't specify a time period.

Payouts in the millions of dollars aren't out of the question.
