i would say rationality like those exhibited by the "extremist" right is evolutionary novel, and we really don't know where things are headed at this point. it may be that groupthink had its utility pre industrial revolution, but modern advances have selected for greater skepticism perhaps as a defense against relaxed darwinian pressures, and appears to be in the process of eliminating vestigial "groupthink" genetics, one mechanism of which might be the development and expedited use of untested medical technology like mrna vaccines.
it seems that attempting to force untested ideas on the populace in general achieves the same results as direct population control. the ideas of the left are largely affecting mostly those on the left, inner city crime, statist mandates, irrational health practices, etc. it's weeding out the most gullible, vulnerable, and unfit of society. maybe this is an unintended consequence of the elites. maybe they meant to kill off rural conservatives but it backfired on them. one thing is for certain, nature has its own agenda, and you cannot try and control it.
