The "perfect" disease is one that discomforts you mildly, and makes you spread it to 10 or 100 other people. A disease doesn't want to kill you any more than you want to burn your house down. Covid killed who it was gonna kill, and those variants don't spread as well as the "minor illness" variants. It's simple, survival of the fittest.

It's one of 100+ viruses that make you feel like you have a cold.

Of course, politicians still want to make capital of it. It's still used for fearmongering.
