Shanghai lockdown is over as of tonight. Yet, the news reports it’s still lockdown.

China has a big elderly problem made worse by decades of the 1 child policy. They use too much healthcare, among other issues. Then "out of nowhere" an engineered virus appears outside of a Chinese government bio lab which specifically targets the elderly with comorbidities (those people using all the Chinese healthcare) and leaves basically everyone else alone. Gee, I wonder what China is up to?

A China expert I follow said, as of 11:00 PM Pacific time last night, lockdowns are not over.

that's because generations no longer live together.
pharmaceutical industry makes profits on elderly.

                        You make an compelling argument.

As the same applies here. The big pharma gets rich, elites get kickback, and the .gov gets emergency power, aka dictatorship that they always wanted. A perfect marriage.

Communism. China has a huge issue with a looming retirement crisis brought about by their single child policy. They have more elderly than young producers and need a way to wipe them out before they bankrupt the economy.

It hurts us to a certain extent, but not nearly as bad as it hurts themselves.

Western corporations have been moving production out of China over the last 6 years. I believe Samsung's production is completely out of China. Many high tech was never in China to begin with. Lower end manufacturing like clothes and shoes are moving to Vietnam, Thailand, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, even Mexico.

They can use this tactic to hurt us once. Corporations aren't dumb. China might be cheap, but missing a contract will make corporations think twice. They have their obligations to keep. They would rather pay more money than to miss a deadline.

China's economy is on the brink. Just you wait.

This is spot on. Twenty years ago it was hip to do business in China. Today its Vietnam, or other places. China is now seen as a an unfulfilled dream.
