I'm confused. I thought that the SCOTUS upheld the vaccine mandate, in the case for health care workers. They said mandates were just dandy, as long as the right authorities issued the order.

Nobody in the "Powers That Be" class is following any rules- not their own, not the governments, not even the Constitution. Not enough people care to matter and the courts don't seem to want to be bothered with this issue.
Sadly this is how I see it.

You would think that the rule of law is valid. It is not. The constitution is dead.

The politicians are out for themselves. They do not care about your well being. They only care about you if it directly benefits them. Many judges are aspiring politicians. They do not care about the law as written. They have a personal agenda they will pervert their rulings to further their personal agenda. They rely on twisted precedent to craft invalid rulings that suit their agenda. Once this is understood about how the world really works your understanding will fall in to place.
