I think some things that look like they maybe predictive programming aren't always what they seem.
Sometimes it's just writers or directors who know enough about the future direction of a field like science or medicine and taking some good guesses. I also think that some of those writers might be trying to send a warning about what could be coming to wake you up.

And to give an example of that someone had a recent Rockford Files TV show thread that had an on-screen printed message that warned about a computer system that was taking data about all of us and the show writers, directors and producers must have given the okay for that type of warning.

Who really knows what is and isn't but I do agree Star Trek and science fiction in general is a good medium for affecting the ideas and minds of the younger generations.
