Altered level of consciousness is a tricky one to narrow down to its root cause. One would be wise to be willing to look broadly at the range of possibilities. Finding out what the person was doing before they collapsed might offer clues to what caused them to collapse but that information might also lead one astray. Prudence requires one not rush to judgement lest they misdiagnose!

In the emergency medicine realm, the pneumonic AEIOU TIPS forms the starting point of things to consider when trying to find the underlying cause of a person in an altered state of consciousness. I've listed the pneumonic below.

Each point expands to sub categories not listed here but at least you get the idea of the list the paramedics will be starting with to try to find out what's going on. Again, altered level of consciousness can be a tricky one to accurately diagnose and often involves a complete workup at the hospital to confirm or rule out some of the many causes.

            A Alcohol
            E Epilepsy
            I Insulin
            O Overdose
            U Underdose
            T Trauma
            I Infection
            P Pyschosis
            S Stroke

Vasovagal syncope (vay-zoh-VAY-gul SING-kuh-pee) occurs when you faint because your body overreacts to certain triggers, such as the sight of blood or extreme emotional distress. It may also be called neurocardiogenic syncope.

The vasovagal syncope trigger causes your heart rate and blood pressure to drop suddenly. That leads to reduced blood flow to your brain, causing you to briefly lose consciousness.

Vasovagal syncope is usually harmless and requires no treatment. But it's possible that you may injure yourself during a vasovagal syncope episode. Your doctor may recommend tests to rule out more-serious causes of fainting, such as heart disorders.

Did the Duke describe blood somewhere?

Maybe just a little bit in the bowl since the man only got disoriented and didn't faint as in your cut and paste of someone else's knowledge.

When the employee opened the door, there was a middle aged man collapsed on the floor. He was having obvious cognitive issues, and it was quickly found out he his out he was in his 15 minute waiting period after getting his COVID booster.

The pharmacist pulled the guy up from the floor and they sat him on the chair where he probably got the shot. They told him an ambulance was on the way. He was very disoriented and slurring his words. Is there a link? Does this thing happen to other people? This freaked me the F out.
Flopping on the floor with cognitive issues just proves the vaccine is safe and effective.

Damn, similar thing happened to me. The other day, my neighbor's teenage daughter was washing her car in her bikini and I was enjoying the view. My wife walked in, right at the moment when my boosted arm stuck itself down my pants and started sexually assaulting me.

I was clearly shaken too, and I haven't slept well either....mainly because I've been sleeping on the couch
